How We Work With Designers

A collaborative, creator-first process built to elevate new voices

At Embers & Oak, designers aren’t just contributors—they’re creative partners. Our mission is to bring fresh perspectives into the world of tabletop gaming, and that starts with supporting the people who imagine the worlds, mechanics, and stories we bring to life.

We welcome designers of all backgrounds and experience levels, and especially encourage creators with new perspectives or underrepresented voices to submit their ideas. Whether you're refining your first prototype or polishing your tenth design, we’re here to help your work shine.

1. Open Submissions
We accept pitch submissions year-round. Designers submit a short concept overview, gameplay description, and prototype materials through our submission portal. Every submission is reviewed by our team—no automated rejections.

3. Collaborative Development
Once a design is selected, we partner closely with you to refine the game. Our development process includes:
• Iterative playtesting and mechanical polishing
• Rules editing and user-friendly learning aids
• Art direction aligned with creative intent
• Transparent communication at every stage

5. Fair Compensation & Long-Term Partnership
We believe designers should be treated ethically and respectfully. Our agreements include:
• Defined expectations
• Long-term collaboration opportunities
• Proper credit and promotion of your work

2. Evaluation & Fit
We look for games that:
• Are accessible and easy to learn
• Offer strategic depth and replayability
• Fresh—theme, mechanics, cultural perspective, or creative twist
• Align with our mission of expanding the gaming community

4. Production & Publishing
We handle all production logistics, including:
• Manufacturing and quality assurance
• Artwork, graphic design, and component layout
• Marketing, crowdfunding, and retail strategy

You provide the vision; we handle the execution.

Our goal is to elevate designers—not overshadow them.
